Antão Gonçalves

Antão Gonçalves is a Portuguese explorer who is best known for his role in the Age of Discovery. He was born in 1445 in the Portuguese city of Porto and was the son of a wealthy merchant. He was educated in the local school and was an avid reader of books about the world.

At the age of twenty, Antão Gonçalves set out on his first voyage of exploration. He sailed to the Canary Islands, where he made contact with the local people and explored the islands. He then sailed to the Azores, where he made contact with the local people and explored the islands. He then sailed to the Madeira Islands, where he made contact with the local people and explored the islands.

In 1476, Antão Gonçalves sailed to the coast of West Africa. He explored the coast and made contact with the local people. Antão Gonçalves died in 1501, at the age of 56. He was buried in the Church of Santa Cruz in Porto, Portugal. He is remembered as one of the most important figures in the Age of Discovery and his legacy lives on in the many places he explored.
