Raphaël Domjan

Raphaël Domjan is a Swiss entrepreneur and inventor who is best known for his pioneering work in the field of solar energy. He is the founder of the Solar Impulse Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use of renewable energy sources. Domjan has been a leader in the development of solar-powered aircraft, and his work has helped to make solar energy a viable alternative to traditional sources of energy.

Domjan was born in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1965. He studied engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, and later earned a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Lausanne. After graduating, he worked as a consultant for a number of companies, including the Swiss Federal Railways. In the early 1990s, he founded the Solar Impulse Foundation, which was dedicated to promoting the use of renewable energy sources.

Domjan’s first major project was the development of a solar-powered aircraft. In 2003, he and his team successfully flew a prototype of the aircraft, which was powered solely by solar energy. This was the first time a manned aircraft had been powered solely by solar energy. The success of this project led to the development of the Solar Impulse 2, which was the first solar-powered aircraft to fly around the world.

In addition to his work in the field of solar energy, Domjan has also been involved in the development of other renewable energy sources. He has worked on the development of wind turbines, and has also been involved in the development of wave energy. He has also been involved in the development of electric vehicles, and has been a leader in the development of hydrogen fuel cells.

Domjan’s work has been recognized by numerous awards, including the World Technology Award for Energy in 2006, the European Inventor Award in 2008, and the Swiss Technology Award in 2009. He has also been honored with the Order of Merit of the Swiss Confederation in 2010.

Domjan’s work has had a major impact on the development of renewable energy sources. His pioneering work in the field of solar energy has helped to make solar energy a viable alternative to traditional sources of energy. His work has also helped to make renewable energy sources more accessible to the public, and has helped to reduce the environmental impact of energy production. Domjan’s work has helped to make renewable energy sources more affordable and more widely available, and has helped to make renewable energy sources a viable option for the future.
