Thomas Button

Thomas Button was an English explorer and navigator who was born in 1560 in Bristol, England. He was the son of a merchant and was educated at the local grammar school. He was an apprentice to a shipwright and later became a master mariner. He was a skilled navigator and was known for his ability to find his way in unknown waters.

Button was the first Englishman to explore the Hudson Bay in 1612. He was sent by the Muscovy Company to explore the area and find a route to the Orient.
