William Hovell

William Hovell was an explorer and surveyor who made a significant contribution to the exploration of Australia in the early 19th century. He was born in 1786 in London, England, and was the son of a naval officer. He joined the Royal Navy in 1802 and served in the Napoleonic Wars.
